Moser, Arthur Valentine

Born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1934, and passed away on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2024, at the age of 90. Deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Cecilia (nee Reist) whom he married on June 4, 1960. Loving father of Jeanette (Stephen Ondercin), Donna, Paul (Teresa), Karen (Eric Probst), and Christine (Dimitri Iliadis). Treasured Papa of Matthew, PaulMichael, Marc, Daniel, and Thomas Ondercin; Cecilia Toms; Michael and Patrick Lenover; Sarah and Samantha Moser; Ethan Probst; and Emma Iliadis. Dear brother of Lenore Moser and brother-in-law of Irene Zettel (Charlie). Predeceased by daughters Marlene Moser (2010) and Cheryl Lenover (2020), parents Albert and Celena (O’Grady), sisters Verna, Celena, Eileen, Lorayne, Mildred, Doreen, and Marlene (in infancy), and brothers Earl, Harold, Gerald, and Carl (in infancy). Also predeceased by many brothers and sisters-in-law. Fondly remembered by sons-in-law Philip Toms and Christopher Lenover, many nieces and nephews, and his special four-legged friend, Molly, who will miss the frequent treats that he gave her during their time together. Art worked hard all his life, employed for many years at Uniroyal Chemical while farming on the side. After retiring from Uniroyal in 1999, he continued to farm but also spent many hours providing transportation to the Mennonite community. His generosity was always present, and he quietly offered whatever he could to those in need. To many, Art seemed like a man of few words, but he was always quick with a joke or a comeback. Education was very important to him, and he helped support all seven children as they achieved university degrees. He was a man of great faith, and his rosary was never far from his side, especially in the last few months of his life. In his younger years, Art liked a good party with classic country music and a good game of solo. He liked nothing more than when the cards fell just right, and his smart play could outwit his opponents. No one could win a club solo on fewer good cards than he could. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Parish prayers will be said at 8:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira. Reception to follow. Spring interment will take place in St. Mary’s RC Cemetery, Hesson.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Brock University’s Marlene Moser Memorial Scholarship, Diabetes Canada, or Grand River Hospital Foundation (Continuum of Care – Freeport) would be greatly appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
