Gloria passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care, Shelburne at the age of 78 years. Beloved mother of Ron and Rob Oswald. Proud grandmother of Lauren and Leah. Gloria will be sorely missed by her brother Gary (Elaine) Ray, sister Darlene (Charlie) Koebel, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Ken Orr, parents John and Virginia Ray, brothers Douglas and Terry Ray. Glo was always on the go, making friends wherever she went. After an incredible 30 plus year career at Dominion Stores, she embraced her retirement years through travel, spending time at her cherished cottage in Sauble Beach, attending social events with her Red Hat girls and the Waterdown Seniors Centre, and lots of bingo. She was a skilled quilter and a lover of birds, especially her orioles. Many of us were gifted quilts that have already become treasured heirlooms. Glo was a strong woman raising two boys by herself, and while times were sometimes tough, her sons never went without. She was bursting with love when it came to her granddaughters, attending their basketball games and school events at every opportunity. Nothing made her happier than being with them. A special thank you to the staff and residents at Dufferin Oaks, Amaranth Wing. The care, compassion, and love shown to “Miss Gloria” was second to none, and we are eternally grateful. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Interment in St. Joseph’s RC Cemetery will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
