It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Doreen West (nee Bauman) of St. Jacobs on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.Doreen, affectionately called “DeDe,” was deeply loved and respected by her husband, Robert (Bob) West, and they were looking forward to celebrating 64 years of marriage this coming November. She will also be missed dearly by her little white dog, Abbie. Doreen is survived by her brother Murray Bauman and her sister-in-law Joan (Joanie) Hazelwood. She was a special aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ion and Ina Bauman, brothers Gerry and Glenn, parents-in-law Harold and Elsie Westenhoefer, and sisters-in-law Audrey, Mary, Carol and Shirley. Together, Doreen and Bob started West Custom Finishing, a very successful business that was finally sold to Westex Coatings. Shortly thereafter, they again proudly started Bo-De Foods and Bo-De Greenhouses. Bo-De Lane was named as a tribute to their enterprise’s popularity. Doreen will also be remembered fondly and sincerely missed by so many close friends. Visitation will take place at Calvary United Church, 48 Hawkesville Rd., St. Jacobs, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., with the funeral service to follow in the sanctuary at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend the service in person, a livestream link will be available on Doreen’s tribute page at www.erbgood.com .
