For Mike Ellis, maintaining the outdoor rink near his home in St. Jacobs has a magical quality at times.
“I love it when you come out here at night when you get that flood finished, and it’s like a sheet of glass under the moonlight,” the volunteer explained.
Like other rinks in the area and across Ontario, the one on Water Street, which is used as a basketball court in summer, is enjoying a bumper winter.
