Ottawa can and should be devoting considerable effort to promoting its newly announced, multi-faceted food affordability effort, made public Monday.
It should be stressing how, in the words of federal Agriculture and Agri-food Minister Heath MacDonald, this effort will ultimately be “helping families manage essential costs, improving food affordability and strengthening a more resilient food system.”
Indeed, we have a huge problem with food affordability and the cost of groceries. It needs a multi-layered fix, and it looks like that’s what the federal government is driving towards.
