Grassroots advocacy is surging across Ontario as a coalition of community organizers, agriculture leaders, and Queen’s Park politicians make a coordinated push to pass Bill 21, the Protect Our Food Act. Coinciding with Ontario Agriculture Week, the escalating campaign aims to establish a permanent, protected “Foodbelt” across the province to halt the rapid erosion of prime agricultural fields.
The push comes alongside a striking statement from Ontario Green Party leader and Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner, who criticized the current administration’s land-use priorities.
