At the upcoming Apple Butter and Cheese Festival on Saturday, three young women will be vying for the spotlight in the final iteration of Wellesley Idol – a competition that has spanned multiple months, and multiple festivals – belting out songs that range from Korean pop to golden oldies and country classics. These competitors will perform in front of a panel of judges before one of them is named the winner.
Taking the stage are Morrigan Woolner, Nora Parks and Claire Sachs. And according to host Allister Bradley, who has been running this competition for the last decade, these are some of the most charismatic and compelling singers he’s seen so far.
“This started out in the spirit of the television shows where contestants would sing and we’d whittle down and whittle down and give away cash prizes and that was great. But what we’ve started doing is also giving some mentoring along the way to the contestants to help them prepare for the semifinals and the finals,” he told The Observer.
