Local pharmacists welcome new responsibilities

Province announces latest expansion to the range of services, including six additional vaccines, to be offered in pharmacies to ease health-care pressures

Starting in July, local pharmacists will be empowered to administer six additional vaccines and prescribe treatments for nine common ailments, thanks to a provincial initiative that aims to reduce pressure on the healthcare system.

It’s not the first time that Ontario pharmacists have seen their scope of practice expanded, and it’s not likely to be the last either. For Woolwich pharmacist Samer Mikhail, this latest development is welcome progress.
