An Elmira resident who is no stranger to acclaim in international powerlifting competitions has now been recognized for her veterinary talent.

Dr. Emily zur Linden received the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners’ Dr. Don E. Bailey Practitioner of the Year award last month for her work with small ruminant animals.

Cass Stewart, who works with zur Linden as a student, told The Observer she nominated her because the award description fit her perfectly.

“I believe she deserves every recognition possible for the work she does,” she said.
