The first meeting of the year for the St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League was held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023.
Discussion took place whether we would like to combine our meetings the same time as the Maryhill Knights of Columbus which is always held on the 4th Thursday of the month. It was decided that “No” we will keep our 2nd Tuesday for CWL meetings but on the 4th Thursday the intentions will be for both K. of C. & CWL jut no meeting for the CWL
An invitation has been received from St. Teresa of Avila Church in Elmira to join them at a special Mass at the Carmelite Monastery on Tuesday, June 13th at 5 p.m. with supper at Kennedy’s in St. Agatha at 6 p.m. Another invitation was received from the Serra Club to their Vocations Recognitions dinner on May 2nd.
The Diocesan CWL is looking for mentors for their CWL mentor program.
A request has been made by the Diocesan Catholic Women’s League for auction items for the Convention on May 6th & 7th.
The Spring Regional will be held on Saturday March 18th at St. Anthony- Daniel’s.
CORRESPONDENCE – a thank you card for the Mass was received from the Agnes Stemmler family who had recently passed away. Newsletters were received from Euthanasia Prevention, Marillac Place, Development & Peace and the Catholic Youth Organization – Children’s Fundraiser.
Two sympathy cards had been sent out during the past two months.
NEW BUSINESS – The money that had been set aside for the Knights of Columbus Vegas Night penny table will be donated to help with the cost of the St. Boniface Festival to be held in May.
The draw took place on the 2 beautiful Valentine Baskets that Marg Drexler had made as a fundraiser. Tickets were $2 each or 3 for $5 and tickets were sold after church. The first basket went to Karen Bennett and the second was won by Elmer Zettel. The money will go to the children in Ukraine. Marg Drexler has connections to people there.
There will be another fundraising basket this time with an Easter theme and the proceeds will be given to the Ukraine families that are now residing at Hillside Residence here in Maryhill.
We have been asked to do another instructed vote regarding the Constitution which will have to be in person. There will be a craft for that meeting.
There will be 29 young people making their Confirmation on Wednesday April 26th at 7 p.m. and First Communion will be held on Sunday May 7th at 2 p.m. for 29 young people.
Coffee and treats were enjoyed following the meeting.
