The monthly meeting of the Maryhill Historical Society was held on Monday, January 30th at 6:30 p.m. in the Edward Halter Home.

Correspondence received was the Ontario Historical Society Bulletin and their Ontario History Book.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

ARCHIVIST & GENEALOGY – Assistance was given to families researching Rellinger, Moriarty, Andrich, Reinhardt, and Klein.

BIRTHDAY CLUB – Currently we have 90 people on our 80+ birthday list.  Birthday cards sent out for December were 8 with 6 mailed out in January.

BUILDING MAINTENACE – Discussion took place on some future projects that will need to be addressed.

CHURCH – Since November there had been 4 baptisms,  2 deaths and 2 burials. The Baptismal, Marriages and Deaths have been recorded and indexed for 2022.The years Baptism 1918, Marriages 1941 and deaths 1951 are now available in the Historical House.  This is according to the Archives of Ontario.  We have also received the 2 plaques that had been on the old organ in the church. MEMBERSHIP – received 2 new annual memberships and 3 members have passed away.  We currently have 286 members with 180 on our email list and we have 729 members on our Maryhill Roots Facebook page.

RESOURCE CENTRE – the house had been decorated for Christmas inside and outside. Thank you to 6 members who have started on the inventory completing the chapel, kitchen and bathroom and started on the 2 closets upstairs.  Will continue again in February.

SCHOOL – Received the St. Boniface School Year book for 2021-2022.

NEW BUSINESS – the dates and events for the coming year were discussed.

DONATION – A book  “Steeple Chase” Ontario’s Historic Churches was received
