Across the region, pressing debates over urban-rural boundaries, the future of agriculture, and municipal transparency have emerged as defining issues for the Township of Woolwich. For mayoral candidates Evan Burgess and Eric Schwindt, securing the agricultural sector is at the forefront of their campaigns.
Burgess and Schwindt are two of the three candidates running for mayor of Woolwich Township, with the third candidate, Glenn Fern, yet to make a formal public appearance. For both frontrunners, defending the structural separation between urban development and active farming remains a primary focus.
