Outdoors enthusiasts love winter campfires in varying degrees. But I think we can all agree that anything past the flashpoint of clothing is unacceptable.
For some of us, there is nothing better than a campfire on a frigid winter day. Other, less enthusiastic types prefer home heating and a good pair of slippers.
There was a time when fires were home heating, however. Back in those cave-dwelling days, you’d be weathering winter in your cave and sitting by the fire when suddenly it would go out. If you were the handy type, you might try to diagnose why and perhaps even fix it. But, eventually, after several attempts, your wife would browbeat you into calling a professional. Before long, a representative from the local cave and heating company would arrive with their wagon to hopefully fix your fire. This took a while, as the wheel had not yet been invented.
