Early on January 1, vandals broke in to the Woolwich Memorial Centre. As there was no alarm system, they were able to run amok inside the facility, causing more than $100,000 in damage.

Why was no system in place? When was the decision made to drop security measures that are commonplace in a $23-million facility? Who made that decision? Responding to questions from the Observer about accountability, the township sidestepped most of the issues.
