When Woolwich residents head to the polls on October 26, they will have plenty of boxes to tick. There are four candidates vying to replace outgoing Mayor Sandy Shantz, five for the Ward 1’s two council spots, two for Ward 2, and four for Ward 3 and its two seats.
Pretty soon, mayoral election signs will begin proliferating around the township, and three of the names should be familiar to those tracking the developments so far: newcomer businessman Chane Ballantyne has thrown in his hat alongside incumbent councillors Evan Burgess and Eric Schwindt.
The final wildcard is Glen Fern of St. Jacobs, who submitted his papers by the August 21 deadline but has yet to kick off any visible campaign.
