Big bucks for little ducks

When it comes to the conservation of waterfowl in North America, a few major achievements stand out: The Migratory Bird Treaty of 1918, the North American Waterfowl Management Plan of 1986, Wood Duck and Mallard nesting box programs, and the way I shot throughout my first two duck seasons.

All these things worked together to create the healthy duck and goose populations we enjoy today. On the downside, wetland habitat is still routinely threatened, though many conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited Canada and Delta Waterfowl are working diligently to mitigate that.

As a lifelong waterfowler, this has me thinking about what the next good thing for ducks will be. It turns out it is probably ammunition prices.
