The Ontario government has officially marked the start of construction on the new Ontario Poultry Research Centre in Centre Wellington, backed by a $24-million provincial investment.
Located at 6106 2nd Line East, the facility is designed to strengthen the province’s food sovereignty and poultry supply chain by delivering advanced, industry-focused research.
Some of the areas of research the facility will cover include poultry health, poultry nutrition, animal welfare and housing systems, consumer-oriented research, and economics and the cost of production. The research will fill in the gaps currently in the poultry industry, optimizing nutrition, reproduction, genetics/genomics, and managing the overall cost of production.
