The Elmira Legion Ladies Auxiliary is calling all crocheters and knitters to make some poppies for this year’s Remembrance period.
Robin Goodwin, who was initially inspired after seeing similar displays in Elora and Ottawa, is spearheading Elmira’s poppy project.
The Elora inspiration came from visiting her aunt, who lived in that community.
“I would take her for a drive, and it happened to be right early November, and Elora had all these poppies out on their Legion and on the railing in front of it, and then we went over, and we saw poppies on the church.
