Opponents of a proposed industrial development on 100 acres of Woolwich farmland saw their cause boosted last week by Ontario Green Party deputy leader Aislinn Clancy.
The MPP for Kitchener Centre met with activists August 13 at the area on Bridge Street West that developers want to rezone as industrial land.
“Woolwich has some of the best soil in Ontario. The farmland at stake here supports local farmers and drives the local economy. It’s time for the Ford government to step up and permanently protect farmland here and across the province,” said Clancy in a statement to The Observer.
“Ontario loses 319 acres of farmland every day. We can’t afford to lose any more – once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.”
