Those using the arena in Wellesley will get the chance to get some more rink time, as township council this week approved an extension of the ice season.
For up to six weeks at the end of the normal season, which concludes no later than May 31, the ice will stay in at the Wellesley rec. centre.
Interim manager of recreation Wanda Schaefer told councillors meeting Tuesday night that township staff had talked with the main ice users a couple of months ago, discovering they were using ice in other communities for the spring season.
All users pay a premium spring ice rate of $265 per hour for 2027, which may provide a small surplus to accommodate any maintenance issues.
