Four communities in the Region of Waterloo will see beefed up transit services thanks to a cash infusion from the provincial government announced last week. Bus routes in Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot and North Dumfries will benefit from $3.4-million in additional funding.
Wellesley Mayor Joe Nowak described himself as “ecstatic” over the news, which he believes is the result of years of campaigning.
“This is something we’ve been working on for a number of years. We’ve always realized there was a need for it in our rural areas, and now we have an opportunity to have this pilot project and see if this is going to work for us,” he told The Observer.
