When it comes to gardening, many people take water for granted.

All the rain that fell this spring? That’s fuel for your work. All that water you’re sloshing over your plants with a sprinkling can? That’s a precious resource, not to be wasted. And what about the water flowing underground, doing its mysterious work in the dark? All of it contributes to your desired outcome, in whatever way it reaches the thirsty roots of your beloved garden.

Water’s role in gardening is a more complex topic than you may think, which is why Woolwich Gardeners is hosting local horticulturalist Janet Cox for a talk titled Water Management for Less Work and More Garden at St. James Lutheran in Elmira on June 15 at 7 p.m.
