The Bloomingdale Community Centre (BLCC) will retain its original use, as Woolwich council this week decided against a plan to move the library into the facility.

Instead, the goal is to keep the library at the Bloomingdale United Church, with an eye on expanding programming at the community centre.

Citing public feedback and a community-led effort to restore the rec. association in the village, recreation staff reversed course in favour of maintaining the status quo.

Jessica Stovin, director of recreation and community services, said talks with residents made clear their preference for retaining the community centre.
