The U17 Elmira Heat softball squad claimed bronze at the Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship in Surrey, BC to wrap up their season.
“We had intentions of going there and winning gold, but to come home with a bronze medal and being recognized as the third-best team in the country at the U17 level is something to be proud of,” said coach Mike Brito of the tournament that took place August 5-9.
“It was disappointing at first, but when you look back at it, we were pleased with the result,” he added.
In their last game, they lost 13-9 to QC1 Équipe Québec, the team that claimed silver.
