The youngsters have been given a chance to show what they’ve got as the Wellesley Applejacks returned to the ice in PJHL preseason action.

In three games thus far, the rookies have acquitted themselves “pretty good” alongside some of the returning Jacks, says the new head coach.

“It was good to see the young guys out to give them an opportunity to see what it’s like for junior C and what’s expected down the road,” said Ryan Gerber, who returned to the organization after Derek LeBold decided to take a step back this year.

The exhibition schedule started off with a 4-2 loss to the Firebirds in New Hamburg on August 18. The following Friday, Wellesley posted a 2-1 OT loss to the Mitchell Hawks at The Orchard, then lost to that squad 7-4 on Sunday.
