It was a split weekend, but the Elmira Sugar Kings gained a point on first-place Chatham in the race for the GOHL’s top spot in the Western Conference, with four games in hand.

The Kings sport a record of 25-5-2 after dropping a 3-1 decision in Stratford Friday before a convincing 6-1 win over Waterloo on Sunday afternoon.

On January 9 in Stratford, the Kings found themselves playing from behind all the way through. The Warriors got goals from Dominic Marshall and Quinn Kipfer 11 seconds apart past the halfway point of the first period and never looked back.
