The Region of Waterloo says it is “re-evaluating” plans to add bike lanes and remove parking in downtown Elmira following a public backlash.
The shift came after Woolwich Mayor Sandy Shantz secured regional council backing for a simple “shave-and-pave” repair of the badly cratered Arthur Street.
The region also said it would focus on “resurfacing rather than complete reconstructions” across its network after acknowledging that one in five roads is in “very poor” condition.
