A national campaign group that promotes clear public usage of English says the term “fibres only” on the region’s new recycling boxes is confusing.

Michelle Boulton, the chair of Plain Canada, criticized Circular Materials, a private firm that has taken over the program, for using what she called “insider language” on blue bins.

“‘Fibres only’ would be ambiguous and unclear for most residents,” she told The Observer.
