It takes a team of volunteers to help set up the world’s largest single-day maple syrup festival in Elmira.
That crew includes those who turn out regularly for years and those who help out once in a while. But each of them is vital to getting the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival ready for the big day – this year, that’s April 11 – whether they’re long-term volunteers like Greg Elliott or newcomers like Tamara Schell.
“There are lots of volunteers on festival day, and there are lots that sign up to help at the end of the festival as well as the following day to help clean up the streets of Elmira again,” said Maxine Metzger, who volunteers with the festival committee.
