Wellesley’s treasurer said the township’s new 3.49 per cent tax increase is lower than in most surrounding authorities as council passed this year’s budget and approved $945,000 in extra spending.
“We are lower than the majority of our neighbours,” said Jeff Dyck as he presented a report at the meeting on Tuesday night ahead of the confirmation vote.
“Some of these aren’t final yet, but the Township of Woolwich is coming in at 7.8 per cent, Wilmot is coming in at 9.7 per cent, North Dumfries at 5.5 per cent, Perth East at 5.3 per cent and the one township that has a lower tax increase than what we’re proposing here is the Township of Mapleton, that’s at 3.1 per cent.”
