With great sadness, after a lengthy battle with dementia, Joanne passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025 at WRHN – Midtown at the age of 82 years. Beloved wife and best friend of Brent Ballantyne for 62 years. Dear mother of Rhonda (Darrell) Gingrich, Jeff (Tracey), and Chane (Christine). Joanne will be missed by those who call her “Nanny” and “Great-Nanny.” Also remembered by her Carter brothers and sisters. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rosalie Carter, and her brother Chane Carter. The family truly appreciates the care that Joanne received while she resided in the Emma’s Neighbourhood at University Gates, and extends their heartfelt gratitude to the team for their support and compassion. There will be no funeral home visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.
