They broke the rules, but they’ll get to skate on it.
The owners of a Bloomingdale-area property turned part of a farm storage building into an indoor arena complete with a refrigeration system for the ice, team benches, changing rooms (one of which looks like a miniature NHL version), washrooms, showers and an ice-resurfacing machine room. They did so without a building permit or appropriate zoning approvals.
When Woolwich officials later found out, Krista and David Godwin of 955 Sawmill Rd. filed applications to have the use permitted so the arena uses could continue in the winter when the building wasn’t being used for farm storage.
