Wellesley’s new mayor, Chris Martin, literally knocked on every door in the township during his campaign. That may sound like hyperbole, but it’s what happened – he personally drove to approximately 2,300 homes over the course of about three months, handing out brochures in a bid to match the name recognition that incumbent Joe Nowak enjoyed after 12 years in the big seat.
“I think that was one of the keys to my success, being able to stop on everyone’s doorstep. It introduced me to them where I might not otherwise have had a chance,” Martin told The Observer on Tuesday, while collecting his election signs.
