Oaks have long been beloved for their thick bark and tall branches, making them a historic symbol of strength and endurance. Ontario has 11 native oak species. Among them is the bur oak, known for its exceptional resilience to harsh environmental conditions.
Local residents can get their very own bur oak for free at the local non-profit ReForest Woolwich’s upcoming tree giveaway. It is one of the 15 species featured at the event. With the event set for October 31, residents have until October 19 to order up to 50 trees.
