It was a cold and wet evening for the  monthly meeting of the St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League  on Thursday, April 11th at 7 p.m. in the Edward Halter Home.

Correspondence consisted of a Catholic Women’s brochure, a CWL national survey and a memo from the National Chair of Organization. Each branch of the CWL has been invited to take part in H.U.G. (Helping, Understanding, Giving) Centenary Committee Project. Also received were the Good Works News bulletin, and the Euthanasia Prevention newsletter. Donation requests were received from Camp Brebeuf and Lizaard House.

A monetary donation has been given to Ray of Hope and the K-W Right to Life.

CHRISTIAN FAMILY LIFE CONVENOR– Maria O’Drowsky  will be checking into purchasing the video “Fatal Flaws”.  A reminder First Communion will take place on Sunday, May 5th at the 10 a.m. Mass.

COMMUNITY LIFE & COMMUNICTIONS CONVENOR – Diane informed the ladies that there are 6 churches that are hosting “Divine Mercy Sunday”  on Sunday April 28th at 3 p.m.  St. Anthony-Daniel, St. Mary’s & St. Aloysius in Kitchener, St. Agnes in Waterloo, St. Joseph in Guelph and St. Agatha, St. Agatha.

The Carmel Retreat will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 10:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.  at the Monastery .  Retreat Master will be Father Michael King.

The Maryhill Knights of Columbus are holding their Vegas Night on Saturday, April 27th at 8 p.m.  Doors open at 7 p.m.  Chances on meat boxes, grocery hampers, cash prizes and other items.  The CWL will be hosting the Penny Table.  There will also be other games of chance.  Free admission and fast food is available.  Door prizes.

Best Friends of Big Sisters are holding their 8th annual card party at Conestogo Place. On Thursday, May 23rd at 12 noon.  Tickets are $25.  You can purchase tickets from Diane.

The ladies were reminded of the Right to Life Walk for Life will take place on Saturday, May 11th at 9 a.m. in the Maryhill Heritage Park.

EDUCATION & HEALTH CONVENOR – Judy Kittel spoke on her concern of the recent government changes to the education and health care system.

SPIRITUAL LIFE CONVENOR – Barb Nosal spoke on the Easter Triduum and said the “Prayer for our Common Home”.

NEW BUSINESS – A directed vote was taken for the new Diocesan Council.  This will be how president Fran Vegh will vote at the Hamilton Convention in May.

Next meeting will be Thursday, May 9th and we will be doing the Crowning of Mary and the Rosary.
