Douglas “Snap” Sebben

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas “Snap” Sebben, of Linwood, announces his passing at the age of 71, on October 31, 2025. Doug will be dearly missed by his siblings Bill (Julia), Jane Gunn (Bob), Robert (Bill Schulz), and Steve (Lori), as well as his many nieces and nephews, Ben Gunn (Steph), Catrina Clark (Mike), Adrienne Elliott (Dave), Jennifer McFadden (Curtis), Amanda Castle (Ryan), Will Sebben (Colbey), Steph Sebben, Ted Sebben (Katie), Jill Gerber (Brady), Leah Weber (Jayden), and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his special friends Olivia, Annie, Thomas and Patrick. Doug was predeceased by his parents William Sebben Sr (1963) and Jean Sebben (nee Milner-2017). A diesel mechanic by trade, Doug was known for his skill, work ethic and easygoing nature. In retirement, he took pride in being a capable handyman who could fix almost anything, and made countless friends along the way. Although a man of few words, he loved nothing more than sharing a beer and a good chat with those he met. For many years, Doug was actively involved as a member of the Linwood Lions Club, as well as a volunteer firefighter, giving countless hours towards the betterment of his community. Doug’s life changed drastically after a serious motorcycle accident in 1994, an event that shaped the next 31 years of his life. After his recovery, he gave up biking and turned his attention to fishing, and in later years, to golf. Though he was no longer able to work with heavy trucks in the same capacity as before his accident, that twist of fate brought him new friendships, adventures and memories that enriched his life. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to gather for light refreshments and a celebration of Doug’s life on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Linwood Recreation Centre, 5279 Ament Line, Linwood. Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Guelph to Goderich (G2G) Rail Trail and may be made through the Dreisinger Funeral Home. Doug will be remembered for his wit, resilience and warmth, and for the many lives he touched just by being himself.

“In the end it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.”
