When director Liisa Steinwedel first pulled together her diverse cast for a production of the audience favourite RENT, she realized that many of her actors weren’t alive when the AIDS epidemic was at its worst, claiming thousands of lives a year. But then she realized there was a similar large-scale crisis they had experienced: the pandemic.
