The role played by municipalities in protecting agricultural land is a key focus at the Farmland Forum on today (Thursday) at the GrandWay Events Centre in Elora.
The Ontario Farmland Trust event features a range of speakers and a workshop facilitated by the Community Company. It brings together farmers, municipal councillors, conservationists, researchers, and members of grassroots organizations from across the province.
Martin Straathof, executive director of the Ontario Farmland Trust, notes that with municipal elections taking place across six Canadian provinces this year, the timing is right for the forum’s focus.
