On a radiant November day, the schoolyard was bathed in sunlight as groups of students and volunteers knelt in the grass, carefully planting slender plug-root seedlings.
With the clear skies above and the absence of winter’s chill, it was a day that symbolized the power of community in creating a greener future.
Under the expert guidance of ReForest Woolwich volunteers, including co-founder Mark Schwarz and forest steward Chad Bouma, students at Floradale Public School embarked on a unique initiative. They planted between 250 and 300 native trees, creating not just one, but three small, dense ‘microforests’ on the school property.
