While the Sugar Kings’ head-to-head battle with Chatham was postponed this weekend, Elmira nonetheless gained ground in the race for first in the GOHL’s Western Conference.

The Kings’ win over London January 21, combined with a Maroons’ loss two days later, sees Elmira (27-6-2) just one point back of Chatham (26-8-2-3), with four games in hand.

Head coach Cory McRae said he heard Sunday morning that weather concerns were going to keep the Maroons in Chatham, allowing the team a rare weekend off after a midweek match in London.
