Elmira took two of the final three games of the regular season, but the loss came at the hands of the Chatham Maroons, who edged the Sugar Kings for top spot in the GOHL’s Western Conference.
The two-point differential landed the Kings in second place with a record of 37-10-2-1 for 77 points, two back of Chatham (37-8-2-3).
They’ll now face the seventh-place LaSalle Vipers (25-22-3) in the first round of the playoffs.
