As more information becomes available, reaction is mixed to news that patients in the Waterloo Region Health Network (WRHN) maybe have had their medical information compromised.
The “security incident” saw information vulnerable over a 10-month period, from April 2025 through mid-January. The hospital organization said the incident took place outside WRHN’s network and was contained on January 13, before the organization itself was notified on February 6.
They were informed by the Ontario MD of the incident that involved Ontario Health that affected WRHN’s connection to the Health Report Manager (HRM) service, said Cassandra Easton, WRHN public affairs lead, in an email.
