The federal government is framing its new Climate Competitiveness Strategy as a jobs- and growth-focused approach to climate policy, pairing clean-economy investments with targeted support for sectors facing trade pressures, including agriculture.
Environment and Climate Change Canada began rolling out messaging this week linking the new federal budget’s climate measures to competitiveness, part of a broader effort to brand climate and economic policy as intertwined.
In its fiscal plan, the government says it is introducing “a series of new, strategic measures for workers and businesses in those sectors most impacted by U.S. tariffs and trade disruptions — from the auto industry, to steel and aluminum, to forestry and agriculture.”
