A high-ticketing former St. Clements speed camera was labelled a speed trap after a Conestogo couple said the initial 40-km/h sign was improperly placed and hard to see.

After receiving an $88.25 fine for travelling 53 km/h on Lobsinger Line, the couple measured the marker and concluded it was mounted too high and set too far back to meet provincial standards.

They said it was easily obscured by a large stop sign and passing traffic at the westbound intersection with Herrgott Road.
