Volunteers plan to plant a host of community orchards across Woolwich where members of the public will be able to pick fruit for free.

In mid-April, ReForest Woolwich aims to start planting a variety of trees at the Elmira Nature Reserve and two sites along the Kissing Bridge Trailway.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to create a “living pantry” in the township, where publicly accessible varieties of apples, pears, peaches, cherries and other species feed the community for free while also contributing to environmental goals.
