Getting more than 200 acres of natural land permanently preserved from development is no small feat. However, it is exactly what the rare Charitable Research Reserve has achieved with Schneider’s Woods, a pristine parcel of land situated on the ecologically sensitive Waterloo Moraine at the headwaters of Laurel Creek.
The 235-acre expanse of rolling hills is named after its previous owners, Jane and her husband Fred Schneider. Jane donated the land in 2024 to the rare land trust to protect it from development.
