An elderly Elmira cancer patient who can’t move the new high-tech wheeled garbage bins to her curb says the Region of Waterloo has let down seniors like her in rolling out the program.
Thelma Knoll, 94, said the automated collection system is too difficult for many to manage – and the authority has made it hard for vulnerable seniors to get help.
The widow, who uses a walker and recently underwent skin cancer surgery on her legs, says she cannot safely move the large wheeled black and green bins, especially in winter.
