Wellesley is considering raising its property tax rate by almost five per cent as councillors prepared to meet today (Thursday) to discuss next year’s budget.

The proposed increase of 4.99 per cent would add an average of $66.14 to the township portion of bills, bringing the 2026 total to $1,650.19 for a typical home.

It includes a 0.5 per cent greening levy – reduced from 0.75 per cent last year – and a one per cent infrastructure charge.
