Residents of Wellesley are being asked to help shape the community’s next 25 years of growth, housing and land-use when the township hosts a public information session on November 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Crosshill Mennonite Church (2537 Hutchinson Rd.).

“The township is just creating a new official plan,” director of planning Tim Van Hinte told The Observer. “An official plan is a roadmap that essentially guides growth and development, in our case, to the year 2051.”

Van Hinte added that the official plan is part of the provincial government’s requirement of municipalities to plan for projected growth and development, as well as an employment target. The idea behind the policy is to empower municipalities to upgrade their own infrastructure, transportation networks, while keeping any new developments in character with the community.
