A warmer-than-usual autumn gave way to a sudden shift as November arrived with a snowstorm, a trend Environment Canada’s David Phillips expects to continue as winter makes its official arrival this weekend.
The senior climatologist is predicting a colder-than-normal start to the season, which arrives at 10:03 a.m. on Sunday with the solstice.
“When we look at Kitchener-Waterloo for the months of December, January and February, it shows neither colder nor warmer,” said Phillips, noting they call it an equal chance.
